Romke Hoogwaerts is a photographer, filmmaker and writer based in Brooklyn.

He was born in Atlanta (1990) and raised internationally, spending most of his youth in Singapore. He graduated from SVA in NYC with a degree in Visual & Critical Studies (2013). He founded Mossless (2009-2017), a unique digital and print magazine on photography. He has been involved in a variety of other independent efforts, most recently acting as co-editor of The Reservoir (2017-present), a web zine of conversations on the politics of image making. He has written for magazines, blogs, designed websites, edited books, curated shows and worked as a photo editor at Businessweek (2014), NYT Mag (2015) and MSNBC (2015-2016).  Gnomic recently published his first photobook, Vreugdevuur Scheveningen (2018), on the subject of massive sparring bonfires. He lives in Brooklyn where he works as a photographer, filmmaker and graphic designer.
